It has been proven time and time again that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. That is why it is essential that you feel comfortable with me. We will discuss this during our first session, and I encourage you to bring up any concerns you have about me, and our possible work together.
I will gather more information about you and what you are looking for in an eating disorder therapist. If you have certain goals for therapy I will ask you about these during our first visit. It is important that you feel like you are able to express your needs and desires for therapy. In addition, if you know there is something that you do NOT want to talk about or you are not ready to talk about it, please feel free to bring this up with me.
One last note… it is extremely normal to be nervous and feel unconformable at your first session. Telling a complete stranger details about your life is not an every day occurrence! I realize it takes a huge amount of strength to come in for the first session, and I promise to be as real and authentic as possible, so that you can hopefully do the same.
During our first visit we will go over all of the necessary medical and disclosure forms. In order to save time during your first session, I would like you to read and complete the following forms and notifications. Please print each of these documents, read them, fill out pertinent information, and bring them to your first visit.
